Chauncey H. Stuckey

Chauncey H. Stuckey, age 90 years, of Archbold, passed away Friday morning, Aug. 1, 2008, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold.

He was born June 2, 1918, near Archbold, a son of Peter J. and Anna (Short) Stuckey, and married Pearl Stuckey on April 3, 1943.

A lifelong resident of the Archbold area, he devoted his entire life to farming. In addition, he was a volunteer at Sauder Village on butchering day for over 30 years, was secretary/treasurer of the Lockport Cemetery for over 40 years, and had served on the Board of Directors at Archbold Equipment many years.

He was a member of the Lockport Mennonite Church, rural Stryker.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl; two sons, Richard (Judy) Stuckey of Surprise, Ariz., and Larry (Rhonda) Stuckey of Archbold; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ron Stuckey in 2001; four brothers, John Stuckey, Orville Stuckey, Paul Stuckey, and Wayne Stuckey; two sisters, Alta Nafziger and Mary Stuckey.

Services were held yesterday, Tuesday, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lockport Mennonite Church with Pastor Cliff Brubaker and Fairlawn Haven Chaplain Charles Gautsche officiating. Interment followed in the Lockport Cemetery.

Short Funeral Home in Archbold was in charge of the arrangements.

The family suggests that memorials be given to Gideons International, Lockport Mennonite Church, or Fairlawn Haven.
