Charles Robert “Bob” Roedel, 90, of Phoenix, Ariz., passed peacefully on Sept. 13, 2008.
Bob was born in Archbold to the late George and Thelma (Hahn) Roedel on April 10, 1918, and lived in Sarasota, Fla., before moving to Phoenix in the early 1950s. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen (Otte) Roedel. He is survived by his son Mike; a brother-in-law, Kenneth (Kathryn) Otte, Findlay; and a sister-inlaw, Margaret (William) Thieroff, Ridgeville Corners; his extended family, Trina, Matt, Sarah and Jake, and more friends than he knew he had.
Bob lived a very full and generous life and was a WWII Navy Veteran. We’ll miss his subtle generosity, unique sense of humor, passion for cars, love of beautiful flowers and genuine affection for people.
Dad- you had a way of injecting humor in a situation when it seemed no one else could; in a way that eased tension and brought a smile. Your passion for cars made me late so many times. I came to know that we’d rarely make it through a parking lot without something catching your eye requiring closer examination.
You made the big “Nine Oh” and did it in such an admirable way. You lived the life you wanted while never forgetting those in need. I hope you knew the positive impact you had on the lives of so many people, some directly and many more indirectly, through the numerous charities you supported.
Visitation was Saturday, September 20 at 1 p.m. Funeral services followed at 2 p.m. at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix.
