Charles E. Beck, age 78 years, of Archbold, passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 20, 2010, at the University of Toledo Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 27, 1932, near Archbold, the son of Harley and Frances (Klopfenstein) Beck and married Arva Short on Nov. 27, 1954.
A lifelong resident of the Archbold area, he was a dairy farmer and substitute school bus driver for Archbold.
He served on Archbold School Board for 12 years and the Fulton County Dairy Board for many years.
He sang in the Lockport Quintet for many years, and was a member of Lockport Mennonite Church, rural Stryker.
He is survived by his wife, Arva; four children, Mark (Janelle) Beck and Luana (Pete) King, both of Archbold, Linda (Tom) Dickerson of Goshen, Ind., and Dave (Mindy) Beck of Akron; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; two brothers, Donald D. (Romaine) Beck and Vern (Mary Lou) Beck, both of Archbold; and one sister, Arlene Zaerr of Archbold.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Fern Beck.
Services were held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Lockport Mennonite Church with Pastor Steven Heatwole and Diane Zaerr Brenneman officiating. Interment followed in the Lockport Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Mennonite Central Committee or Parkinson’s Foundation of Northwest Ohio.
