The charity of Northwest Ohio, and in particular, the Archbold area, is well-known and well-documented.
For decades, area citizens have reached into their own pockets to support those in need– in town, across the nation, and throughout the world.
Whether it’s water filters for Haiti, food and building supplies for New Orleans, or money for scholarships here at home, for example, Archbold and area residents have given of their time, talent, and treasures.
There is even a story from the 1940s about how clothing was collected for the people of Germany, a nation ravaged by war. A coat was received from Archbold, and in the pocket was a key. The recipients were awestruck, thinking that someone surrendered the coat they were wearing without remembering the key in the pocket.
Few stories can rival the results from #GivingTuesdayNWO, an event that was expected to raise a few hundred thousand dollars– and instead brought in $1.6 million.
With the New Year, there are new opportunities to give, and we encourage those who can, to give.
Whether it be money, goods, time, talent, there is someone– some group, some organization– that needs what you can give.
Please look into your heart and find a way to be generous.
Turn #GivingTuesdayNWO into #GivingEveryDayAmerica.
