Chad Kern Is New Council Member

Chad Kern, Archbold, is the newest member of Archbold Village Council.

Archbold Village Council members selected Kern from a total of three candidates during a special meeting held at the Archbold Scout Cabin Thursday, April 2.

At the meeting, council members interviewed Kern, John Grieser, and Monica Miller in executive session.

When the group returned to regular session, Brad Short, councilman, nominated Miller for the post. Short’s motion died for lack of a second.

Karla Ball, council member, then nominated Kern. The nomination was seconded by Kevin Eicher, council member. On the vote, Short, Eicher, Ball, and Vaughn Bentz, councilman, voted for Kern. Kevin Morton, councilman, abstained on the vote at the request of Brad Grime, mayor. Morton explained Kern is his brother-in-law.

“All three were good candidates, all well-qualified,” Short said.

Kern will replace Drew Ginn, who resigned from his seat in March to accept a job offer in South Carolina.

Council has moved it’s Monday, April 6 council meeting to the scout cabin in order to maintain physical distance between member. Those entering the scout cabin will have their temperature taken with a non-contact thermometer.–Posted 7:30 pm 4.2.20
