The day after celebrating his 75th wedding anniversary to Evelyn Cora Clingaman, Carl Roth passed away June 2, 2016, at Kingston Residence in Sylvania.
He is survived by Evelyn; son Larry (Clarice); daughters Brenda (Clyde) Kunkel, Karen (Michael) Slepchuk, and Tamara (Rick) Perdue; seven grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren.
Carl Roth was born and raised in Elmira, where his parents, Daniel P. and Katie Roth, owned Roth’s General Store.
He received his degree in education from Bowling Green State University in 1939 and went on to the University of Michigan and the University of Toledo, where he graduated with a master’s degree in business administration.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Peter Roth and Katherine Reichart Roth; his brothers, Walter and Earl; and sister Viola.
Mr. Roth worked in Civil Service at Rossford Ordnance Depot and at the Army Tank Command in Warren, Mich., before becoming assistant superintendent for finance in the Chippewa Valley, Mich., school system.
Returning to Toledo after retirement, he and Evelyn were active members of King of Glory Lutheran Church.
He retired in 1981 to enjoy traveling to Europe, Great Britain, Canada, China, Australia, Japan, Africa and many places within the US with his “bride”… and enjoyed golfing in the Whiteford men’s league for many years.
Our family would like to thank the entire Kingston of Sylvania staff for the excellent care and compassion they shared with Dad… the nursing staff and aides that made it possible for Mom and Dad to live their days together.
Carl and Evelyn were loving parents who created the closeknit family that surrounded him in his final moments.
The funeral was at King of Glory Lutheran Church Monday at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to King of Glory Lutheran Church or your favorite charity. www.reebfuneralhome.com.
