Car Strikes Deer, Then Hit By SUV

A car struck a deer, then a sport-utility vehicle struck the car about 6:59 pm, Friday, Dec. 1, Archbold police reports state.

Erin S. Eickmeier, 35, rural Archbold, was driving a car south on South Defiance Street at 6:59 pm when a deer, running west, ran into the street and Eickmeier struck it. The mishap occurred about 113 feet north of Taylor Parkway.

The report states the deer was then struck by a semi that failed to stop at the scene.

Then a sport-utility vehicle, driven by Arnold Grime, 63, Archbold, which was traveling south on South Defiance Street, struck Eickmeier’s auto.

Eickmeier had gotten out of her car to check on the deer when the crash occurred.

Archbold Rescue transported Grime to the Fulton County Health Center, where he was treated and released.

Grime was issued a citation for an assured clear distance ahead.

A deer tag was issued for the carcass.
