A car driven by a Swanton man crashed at the Co. Rd. D slant crossing, then was struck by a train, a report from the Fulton County Sheriff Department states.
The first crash occurred at 5 am, Thursday, June 19, when Stephen Wolfe, 48, Swanton, was driving his car west on Co. Rd. D.
As he approached the curves at the crossing, he went off the right, or north, side of the road. Wolfe overcorrected, and the car came back on the road, then failed to negotiate the second turn, and came to rest on the southernmost Norfolk Southern railroad track.
Within seconds after coming to a stop, Wolfe got out of the car, which was then struck by an eastbound train.
Wolfe was not injured. He was cited by sheriff deputies for failure to control.
Kelly L. Boulton, 30, Archbold, was driving a vehicle west on Co. Rd. D about 10:07 pm, Saturday, June 21, when her vehicle collided with a dear.
The crash occurred about three-tenths of a mile west of Co. Rd. 17. No injuries.
Paige M. Froelich, 27, Stryker, was driving a vehicle eastbound on St. Rt. 2 at 7:05 am, Monday, June 23, with passenger Quinn Froelich, six months, same address, when the vehicle collided with a deer.
The crash occurred at the intersection of St. Rt. 2 and Co. Rd. 20-3. No injuries.
