Car, Bicycle Collide On Stryker Street



Casmira Kristoff, 11, Archbold, was treated and released at the Fulton County Health Center after her bicycle collided with a car about 7:53 am, Friday, Sept. 21.

The Archbold police report states Kiley D. Schaffner, 33, Archbold, was driving a car in the alley on the west side of the 100 block of North Defi ance Street, and had pulled forward to see traffic. A passenger in the car was Kasyn Schaffner, 11, same address.

Kristoff was riding a bicycle west on the sidewalk, on the south side of Stryker Street. A village ordinance prohibits bicycles from being ridden on the sidewalk.

As the car pulled onto the sidewalk, it was struck by the bicycle.

Archbold Rescue transported Kristoff to FCHC.

No citations.

Update: The police report on this accident states that both the driver of the car and cyclist are at fault; the driver of the car for failure to yield, and the cyclist for failure to obey a traffic control device, for failure to obey a sign prohibiting riding bicycles on downtown sidewalks.-Updated 1:10 pm, 9.26.12
