Law enforcement officials are seeking a newer red Dodge Stratus car and the driver of that vehicle, after they were involved in a crash resulting in injuries at the intersection of US20A and Co. Rd. G, west of Burlington-Elmira at about 4:40 pm, Tuesday, July 17.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol stated Heather L. Hageman, 25, Montpelier, was driving a mini-pickup west on on the highway, with passenger Sheila A. Hageman, 52, also of Montpelier.
The Dodge was traveling west on the highway, and rather than curving north to contine on US20A, went straight to transition onto Co. Rd. G. In doing so, the car failed to yield the right-of-way to the Hageman pickup.
The patrol report states Hageman swerved left of center to avoid hitting the car, went off the left side of the road, overcorrect, then went of the south side of US20A. The pickup overturned into a soybean field, coming to rest on its top.
ALS-1, the Archbold-based paramedic unit and Archbold Rescue responded; once at the scene, they called for a helicopter ambulance. The helicopter transported Heather Hageman, who is seven months pregnant, to Toledo Hospital. As of Wednesday morning, July 18, she was listed in good condition.
Sheila Hageman was transported by Archbold Rescue to the Fulton County Health Center, where she was treated and released.
OSHP troopers are asking anyone who witnessed, or has information about the crash to contact the patrol’s Toledo Post at 419-865-5544.
