Tournament pairings were drawn Sunday for the Ohio boys basketball tournament.
In Division III sectional action at Wauseon and Defiance, Liberty-Benton (14-4) received the top seed while Van Buren (12-4), ranked 13th by the Associated Press, was seeded second.
Montpelier (10-8) plays Fairview (8-11), Wednesday, Feb. 24, 6:15 p.m., in a sectional semifinal at Wauseon. The winner plays Van Buren, Friday, Feb. 26, 6:15 p.m., in a sectional final.
Archbold (12-6) plays Liberty Center (8-10) in the nightcap at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 24. The winner plays third-seeded Elmwood (15-5) at 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26.
The district semifinals are Thursday, March 3, 6:15 pm and 8 p.m., at Napoleon.
The district championship game is at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 5, at Napoleon.
Liberty-Benton, Delta, Patrick Henry, Paulding, and Tinora, play in the Defiance sectional. Winners advance to the Napoleon district.
Ayersville (17-2), ranked second in Div. IV in last week’s AP poll, received the number one seed in the Div. IV sectionals at Swanton and Bryan. Fayette (17-1), ranked sixth in Div. IV, is seeded second.
Pettisville (6-13) plays Edon (4-15) in a sectional semifinal at Swanton, Tuesday, Feb. 23, 6:15 p.m. The winner plays Fayette for a sectional championship, Friday, Feb. 26, 6:15 p.m., at Swanton.
Emmanuel Christian (5- 13) plays Edgerton (11-7), in the Tuesday, Feb. 23 nightcap at Swanton. The winner plays Toledo Christian (13- 5), Friday, Feb. 26, 8 p.m., at Swanton.
The district semifinals are Tuesday, March 1, 6:15 p.m. and 8 p.m., at Napoleon High School.
The district finals are at 7 p.m., Friday, March 4, at Napoleon.
Maumee Valley Country Day, Stryker, Hilltop, Holgate, Hicksville, North Central, and Ayersville play in the Bryan sectional. Winners advance to the Napoleon district.
