Bollards Trap Trucks

The bell-shaped bollards at the intersection of South Defiance and Stryker streets continue to cause problems for truck drivers. At top, the bollard on the northwest corner of the intersection is lodged between the trailer wheels of a semi driven by Timothy Brannon, Jr., 26, Eaton. The lighted bollard, which the bell bollards protect, was damaged. At left, a semi driven by Terry Lee Shaw, 38, Pueblo, Colo., cut the corner too close, and struck the Rupp Furniture building overhang and a walk light traffic signal. The semi lodged on the bollard. Heavy-duty wreckers freed the trucks. Both drivers received citations for violating rules of turning at intersections.- photos by Mary Huber and David Pugh
