Body Found In House Explosion Identified

The body found in the wreckage of a home that exploded near Swanton Aug. 30 has been identified.

The Fulton County Coroner announced Wednesday, Sept. 6, the remains were that of Terry Daubenmeyer, 56, who lived at the house at 2513 US20A. He was the owner of that property.

Fulton County Sheriff Department deputies were called to the home at about 5:18 pm Aug. 30 on a report of domestic violence.

The suspect in the case went into the house and refused to come out. Attempts to negotiate with the suspect were futile.

Deputies observed the suspect had started a fire in the home. A deputy attempted to enter the house to rescue the suspect, but detected the odor of gas and fled.

The house exploded about 8:13 pm.

Ohio State Fire Marshall investigators have confirmed the explosion was caused by a propane gas leak, but have not said whether the leak was accidental or intentionally caused.

A woman and two children were taken from the scene prior to the fire and explosion.–posted 10:35 am 9.7.17
