Blue Streaks Trounce Bulldogs, Stay Perfect




The Archbold football team journeyed to Swanton, Friday, Sept. 19, and walked away with a 41-21 Northwest Ohio Athletic League victory.

With the win the Streaks stay perfect at 5-0, 3-0 NWOAL. They were ranked fourth in Division IV by the Associated Press last week.

Swanton drops to 1-4, 1-3 NWOAL.

AHS was led by Jake Fidler, who crossed the goal line four times. Fidler scored on a 22- yard run and caught touchdown passes of 23, 13, and 33 yards.

David Rupp tallied 232 passing yards, completing 13 of 20 in the win.

The Blue and Gold settled for a pair of field goals by Aaron Bontrager to take a 6-0 lead before the offense kicked into high gear, exploding for a 34-0 advantage through three quarters.

The Archbold defense, led by David Dominique with 13 tackles, Jared Leininger with 14, and Brandon Wagner with 11, held its host scoreless through three quarters.

Breon Price came up with two interceptions in the win.

Swanton’s scores came late in the game as the Bulldogs scored all 21 points against the AHS junior varsity.
