Blue Streaks Hand State-Ranked Fairview First Loss Of Season


Down 6-5 entering the top of the seventh inning, Archbold scored two unanswered runs to defeat Fairview 7-6, Monday, May 6, at Fairview.

It was the first loss of the season for the Apaches (15- 1), who were ranked fifth in Division III in last week’s Ohio High School Softball Coaches Association poll.

The score was tied at 1 after the first inning. The Streaks scored in the third to go up 2-1, but Fairview scored four runs in the fifth for a 5-2 lead.

Archbold came back with three runs in the sixth to tie the score at 5; Fairview answered with the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth.

Bralynn Blanton pitched a complete game. In seven innings she allowed six runs on four hits, struck out five, and walked two.

The Streaks recorded 11 hits. Grace Mayer led AHS with a home run. Gabby Nafziger hit two doubles and two singles; Madison Roth hit a double and a single. Alyssa McCoy recorded a pair of singles. Faith Wyse and Alexa Wilson each had a single.
