One statistic said it all Friday night. Archbold: 405 yards of total offense; Swanton, 23.

With a matchup looming against Northwest Ohio Athletic League rival Wauseon this week, the Streaks dominated on both sides of the ball and got some valuable playing time for their underclassmen in a 56-0 win, Friday, Oct. 8, at Archbold Stadium.

“It’s tough to keep everyone focused,” said David Dominique, AHS head coach.

“As we started playing they got confidence, and I thought a lot of guys focused up and played pretty well.

“I thought our defense did a great job tonight being physical, getting off the ball, and getting after their quarterback.

“Our guys are excited about next week, but we’ve got some work to do.”

Archbold, perfect at 8-0, 5- 0 NWOAL, looks to clinch at least a share of the league title at Wauseon, Friday, Oct. 15.

Wauseon (6-2) sits one game back in the NWOAL at 4-1, tied with Liberty Center.

The Indians defeated Delta 14-7 on Friday to stay in contention for the league title.

Dark Clouds, Rolling Streaks

The game started under dark, threatening skies as Archbold took the opening kickoff and found the end zone in just five plays, finished off by a Jack Hurst 16- yard touchdown run.

After a Swanton threeand out, Archbold struck fast with a six-play drive that covered 77 yards and ended with a 4-yard Carson Dominique touchdown run and a 14-0 lead.

The Blue Streak defense was extremely stingy and forced a punt on Swanton’s next drive.

Starting at their own 40- yard line, it took the Streaks just two plays to score.

Karter Behnfeldt took the ball from DJ Newman on an end-around and outran the defense to score on a 41-yard run to make it 21-0.

Archbold made one miscue in the first quarter when a Newman pass went in and out of the hands of his intended receiver and was intercepted.

On Swanton’s next play, Newman returned the favor, intercepting a Cole Mitchey pass and running it back to the Swanton 4.

Dominique scored on the next play for a 28-0 advantage with 59 seconds remaining in the first quarter.

Archbold scored three more times in the first half.

Newman hooked up with Charlie Krieger for a 26-yard touchdown pass.

Dominique scored his third touchdown on a 16-yard run.

And the defense got in on the scoring when Cayden Alvarado picked off a Mitchey pass and returned it for a touchdown and a 49-0 lead.

The teams agreed to allow the running clock rule be enforced in the second quarter.

Archbold scored once in the second half on a Tristan Wyse 14-yard touchdown run as the reserves earned some extensive playing time.

The defense held its ground in a quick second half and secured the 56-0 victory, Archbold’s third shutout of the season.

Newman passed for 126 yards on 8-10 passing with a touchdown and a pick.

Dominique rushed 11 times for 89 yards with three scores.

Gavin Bailey snagged four passes for 56 yards.
