Blue Streak Soccer Club

Boys U-11

The Blue Streak Soccer Club Boys U-11 soccer team (5-0-1) traveled to Findlay, Saturday, May 3. The 8-1 victory was shortened at the 34th minute due to thunder. Goals were scored by Jeremy Lerma (3), Oscar Calderon (2), Jackson Waidelich (2), and Joshua Liechty.

The team played at Black Swamp of Toledo, Sunday, May 4. No referees showed up so Jason Lovejoy, Archbold coach, and a Black Swamp coach refereed. Archbold won 8-5. Goals scored: Zach Belknap (2), Calderon (2), Lerma (2), Zach Meyer, and Elijah Robison.

Calderon has scored in all six games.

Boys U-14

The U-14 soccer team traveled to Napoleon and defeated the Wildcats 4-3, Friday, May 2. The home team scored first but Archbold quickly answered when Caleb Liechty crossed the ball in from the left side to a waiting Jarett Lerma, who deftly knocked in the goal.

The Streaks added another score in the 25th minute when David Bontrager shot from beyond the penalty area and found the left side of the net, just beyond the jumping goalie’s grasp. Six minutes later, Seth Yoder slipped a shot just under the diving keeper after a nice pass from Jacob Ott.

With two minutes remaining in the first half, Nathaniel Rodriguez scored to give Archbold a 4-1 halftime lead. The Cats didn’t go quietly though, scoring twice in the second half to make the match close.

The Streaks traveled to Defiance, Sunday, May 4 for a rematch with the Strikers. Archbold jumped on the board in the seventh minute when Clayton Lehman faked a defender before firing a successful shot from the left side. Thirteen minutes later, Lehman lofted a long pass from near midfield to Lerma, who knocked a low shot into the left side of the net.

The Streaks’ 2-0 halftime lead didn’t last as Defiance scored in the 49th minute, and then again with only three minutes remaining to eek out the tie in the well-played thriller.

The Streaks stand 1-2-3, and travel to Wauseon, Saturday, May 10 for a 7 pm match at Homecoming Park.
