The Streaks hosted Bedford United, Saturday Oct. 11. The first meeting between the two resulted in a Bedford win.

With hopes of avoiding a sweep, the Streaks started in the hole 1-0. Madison Kohler tied the score at 1 just before half. Bedford struck first in the second half for a 2-1 lead. Great volley between the two teams ate up most of the second half.

With five minutes remaining, Bedford found the goal again, putting the Streaks down 3-1. But the Streaks wouldn’t go down without a fight as Alicia Hernandez struck twice, tying the score at 3. Credit goes to the two goalies for the Streaks, McKenna Lantz and Cassie Wyse, as they stopped a number of shots. Time expired as Archbold and Bedford tied.

The Streaks hosted the Swiss Baysiders, Sunday, Oct. 12. History with the Baysiders has been a tough one to swallow for the Streaks; in every contest, the Baysiders mounted lastminute shots to win.

History would not repeat this day. Baysiders struck first early, but tough defense led by Neila Kinsman, Syndey Ranzau, and Mim Beck minimized Baysiders’ attempts at goal. M. Kohler was very strong at the goalie position.

Just before half the Streaks’ mighty mite, Kamryn Hostetler, mounted a drive and quickly passed the ball to Hernandez, who took it to the back of the net for a tie at 1 at the half.

The start of the second half found the Streaks fighting from their end of the field.

This time Brooke Kohler and Hostetler tamed the Baysiders and pushed the ball to the other end of the field, where Taylor West, Brooke Hines, and Hernandez kept the heat turned up on offense.

On a goal kick from the Baysiders, Hernandez intercepted the ball, drove to the net and found home again, giving the Streaks a 2-1 lead. Baysiders sent a few more shots, but Wyse ate every one fired her way.

Ranzau moved to offense and she and Hines exchanged a few passes, ending up with a goal from Hines to make the final score 3-1.

The Streaks travel to Perrysburg to seek redemption from a 2-1 loss early in the season, Sunday, Oct. 19.
