The U14 Blue Streak girls soccer team finished the season with three wins. The Defiance Strikers came to Woodland Park, Tuesday, May 13. Defiance was short-handed and Archbold took advantage, winning 8-0. Scoring were Meggie Yoder, Mindy Wyse Lauren Kindinger, Bree Deskins, Ruthie Beck, Becca Gerig and Sierra Nofziger. Assists were dealt by Kindinger, Nofziger and Krista Leupp.
The team traveled to Swanton, Monday, May 19. This was a big, physical team and was a hard-fought battle. Rupp scored in the first half and the score was tied at 1 at the break. In the second half, Swanton took a 2-1 lead but the Streaks battled back with three goals to win 4-2.
Gerig, Leupp and Beck all scored. Beck scored her goal by taking the ball the entire length of the field unassisted. Megan Arend did a good job in goal and Kassidy Garrow, Carly Wyse, Cassidy Wyse, Jesse Fidler, Deskins, and Yoder were great on defense.
In their final game of the season the team traveled to Wauseon, Thursday, May 29. The Streaks had many shots on goal but connected only twice to win 2-0. Gerig and Kindinger scored, assisted by Rupp.
The team ended a great season with an 8-2 record and won the Northwest Ohio Youth Soccer League U14-2 division. Great defense was the hallmark of the team; Archbold allowed only five goals to be scored against them the entire season.
