Blue Streak JV Baseball Wins Season Opener

The Archbold junior varsity baseball team opened the season with a 12-9 win at Edgerton, Thursday, April 3.

Shem Neuenschwander started on the mound and picked up the win, as he only allowed one earned run.

Tyler Appel and Ben Miller came on in relief and held off the Bulldogs as they tried to rally.

The Blue Streaks pounded out 13 hits with Corey Wyse, Trey Westrick, Garrett Morton, Drew Smith, and Jared Leininger all getting two hits each. Leininger had two doubles and two runs batted in, while Zac Grosjean, Aaron Wyse, and Smith also drove in two runs each.

Bobby Rodriguez made the defensive play of the game at third base. He dove to his left to snag a hot grounder, popped up and threw the batter out at first to stop a rally.

It was the only game the Streaks played last week, as three of their four games were rained out.
