Blue Streak Girls Soccer Wins Championship

The Archbold girls soccer team traveled to Otsego for a preseason tournament, July 23-25.

Archbold defeated Maumee II 3-0 in the first game. Alicia Drewes scored two goals and Lauren Kindinger scored one.

Archbold moved on to play Delphos St. John’s, but was defeated 3-0.

The final game of regulation was against Woodmore. The Streaks won 3-0 with Drewes scoring all three goals.

Archbold moved on to rumble with Eastwood II and was again victorious 5- 0. Mindy Rupp, Kindinger, and Drewes each scored.

Archbold advanced to the semifinal to play Lima Bath. The Streaks were behind 2- 0 but with many efforts Sierra Nofziger finally put the ball into the net. Archbold was awarded a penalty kick when Bath had a hand ball in the box. Drewes returned the ball to the net with ease to tie the game at 2 at the end of regulation.

For the first time, Archbold was in a shoot out.

Drewes was placed into the goalie position to help stop Bath and had three saves. Hanna Allison, Carley Wyse, and Nofziger all put the ball in the net to help seal the win.

The Streaks faced Kenton for the championship. Archbold dominated the field with goals from Rupp, Jenson Garrow, Cassidy Garrow, Kindinger, and Hannah Leininger. Drewes added two to complete the 7-0 victory.– Alicia Drewes
