A semi truck trying to avoid a stopped train struck a stop sign about 5:50 pm, Wednesday, Aug. 15.
James E. Ross, 59, rural Kenton, was driving a semi north on South Defiance Street, when he was stopped by a train at the Norfolk Southern crossing.
Ross attempted to turn around by turning right into a business parking lot.
As he was completing the turn, his trailer struck the stop sign at the intersection of East Mechanic and South Defiance streets.
Ross was cited for violating rules for turns at intersections. No injury.
