Blackbirds Beat Locos, Set Up BBC Showdown With Stryker Panthers




Pettisville used a quick start and coasted to a 46-22 Buckeye Border Conference girls basketball road win at Montpelier (5-11, 3-6 BBC), Thursday, Jan. 26.

The win raises the Birds’ BBC record to 9-1 and sets up a pivotal showdown with Stryker, who remains unbeaten at 9-0 in conference play, tomorrow, Thursday, in the Bird Cage.

The Blackbirds (13-3) jumped out to a 14-point lead in the first quarter for a 19-5 lead.

Pettisville took control for good in the second, outscoring Montpelier 9-0 to go into halftime sporting a 28-5 advantage.

Pettisville was up 39-14 after three and kept Montpelier at bay in the fourth for the 46-22 win.

Alexa Leppelmeier and Morgan Leppelmeier led the Birds, scoring 15 and 10 points, respectively.

Aubree Moss led Montpelier, with eight.

Pettisville held Montpelier to six field goals while converting on 20 itself.
