Blackbird Volleyball Ups Record To 4-0

The Pettisville volleyball team defeated Wauseon and Ayersville last week to raise its record to 4-0.

The Birds hosted Wauseon, Monday, Aug. 30, and won in three games, 25-14, 25-9, 25- 11.

PHS flew to Ayersville, Thursday, Sept. 2, and grounded the Pilots in five games, 25-23, 20-25, 25-23, 21-25, 15-11.

Natalie Hubby led the Birds with 13 kills; she was 20/22 in attacks. Katie Yoder had five kills, while Stephanie Yoder had four.

Laura Rupp served 11 aces and was 32-33 in serving.

Hubby had three solo blocks; S. Yoder had two.

Tessa Yoder was 24/24 in setting, while Rupp was 26/27.

As a team, the Birds were 65/73 in serving with 18 aces, 29/31 in serve reception, 57/58 in setting, 58/69 in attacks, and had 39 digs.

The PHS junior varsity team also won, 25-12, 25-13. Wauseon won the freshman match, 27-25, 13-25, 25-16.

K. Yoder had 10 kills and was 24/29 in attacks. Kylee Garcia and Hubby each had eight kills; S. Yoder had seven kills and four solo blocks.

K. Yoder served four aces. In setting, Rupp was 46/46 and T. Yoder was 35/36.

As a team, PHS was 89/105 in serving with eight aces, 65/85 in serve reception, 107/109 in setting, 97/124 in attacks, and had 71 digs.

The Bird JV team upped its record to 3-1 with a 25-21, 25-18 victory.
