Blackbird Volleyball Beats Stryker, Falls To Delta

Pettisville upped its record to 2-0 in the Buckeye Border Conference with a 25-12, 25-10, 25- 19 defeat of Stryker in the Bird Cage, Thursday, Sept. 11.

The Birds are 4-3 overall.

Delta defeated the Birds in a five-game marathon, 25-27, 25- 17, 25-23, 20-25, 15-11, Monday, Sept. 8.

The Birds had 23 attack errors in the non-league loss.

PHS was 91/97 in serving, including two aces by Chelsea Schmucker and one by Mackenzie Nofziger.

They were 85/100 in serve reception, 59/91 in passing, and 130/136 in setting.

The Birds dug up 46 balls; Lauren Bontrager had 10; Katie Weber and Schmucker each had nine.

Haley Nofziger had six solo blocks and 13 kills. Schmucker had 12 kills; Weber, eight; Stephanie Yoder, seven; Ashley Eicher, five; Tessa Yoder and Stacey King, one each.

Karina Rohrer-Meck was 67/69 in setting.

The Birds had 35 kills in their BBC win over Stryker. They were led by H. Nofziger and Weber with nine each, followed by Schmucker, seven; S. Yoder, five; Eicher and Rohrer-Meck, two each; and M. Nofziger, one.

H. Nofziger had three solo blocks; S. Yoder and King each had one.

T. Yoder and Rohrer-Meck each served three aces. H. Nofziger served two and Weber had one.

Rohrer-Meck was 35/35 in setting; T. Yoder was 21/23.

PHS also had 24 digs.
