The Pettisville varsity soccer team (7-6) split two games last week.
Cardinal Stritch traveled to Blackbird Country, Monday, Sept. 24, and PHS sent the Cardinals home with a 4-2 loss.
The Blackbirds traveled to Ottoville, Saturday, Sept. 29, but were unable to come home with a win, falling 6-1.
PHS 4, Stritch 2
Pettisville took the lead early after Quinn Nofziger dribbled the ball from midfield and put the ball past the Stritch goalie. Nofziger scored again off a long punt from goalie Andy Switzer, which Nofziger volleyed into the left side of the goal.
Phillip Roth scored next off a cross from Nofziger. Roth had little trouble putting the ball past the keeper.
Nofziger completed his hat trick off a pass from Jordan Klopfenstein, which Nofziger hammered into the right side of the goal.
Stritch scored two late goals, one off a defensive breakdown and the other off a cross.
Ottoville 6, PHS 1
In a very physical game, the Blackbirds weren’t able to get any shots. Ottoville scored four early goals, three of which came off long throws into the 18-yard line.
Roth cut into the lead when he hammered a cross from Nofziger into the goal, but Ottoville came back with two more goals, one of which was a penalty kick.
Zane Miller, Roth, and Klopfenstein picked up yellow cards from the officials, who also issued two yellow cards to Ottoville.
