Blackbird Girls Drop First Two Games

The Pettisville girls basketball team is 0-2, 0-1 in the Buckeye Border Conference after losses to Edgerton and Hilltop last week.

Edgerton 37, PHS 32

The Bulldogs visited the Bird Cage, Saturday, Nov. 21, for Pettisville’s nonleague season opener.

The score was tied at 32 with 57 seconds left when Bulldog Brianna Wickerham hit a three-pointer, followed 32 seconds later by a Rylei Moreno layup to give Edgerton (1-1) the five-point win.

Ellie Grieser led Pettisville with eight points.

Wickerham led the Bulldogs with eight points, followed by Moreno with seven.

The Birds were 8-15 at the foul line, while Edgerton was 10-21.

Hilltop 40, PHS 22

Hilltop led 20-11 at the half and outscored the Birds 20-11 in the second half to defeat PHS 40-22 in a BBC contest, Tuesday, Nov. 24, in the Bird Cage.

The Cadets (2-0, 1-0 BBC) hit 15 deuces to only seven for Pettisville.

Alli King led Pettisville, with six points.

Kodi Brenner led Hilltop with 12 points. Leanna Baker was also in double figures, with 10 points.
