The Pettisville cross country teams saw action last week in a Tuesday, Sept. 28 tri-meet with Otsego and Patrick Henry and in the Edgerton Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 2.
At Otsego, the boys team won, beating the home team by one point. The Birds had 27 points; Otsego had 28. The girls finished second with 30, five points behind Otsego’s 25.
Otsego’s Eli Cheney won with a time of 17 minutes, 50 seconds.
The first Pettisville runner across the finish line was Dominic Frey, who finished second in 18:14.
Tanner Rufenacht followed Frey into the chute, running an 18:45 to earn third. Aaron Bruner finished fourth in 19:13.
Justin Pursel claimed ninth in 20:37, and Josh Borton was 11th in 20:59.

In the girls race, Otsego’s Kylee Berthisel won in 20:51.
Pettisville’s Tanner Hostetler was second in 21:49.
Sam Shinhearl ran a 23:29 to claim sixth, and Brady Avina crossed the line at 23:35 to take seventh.
Lexie King ran a 24:02, finishing ninth, and Amber Loar came in 10th in 24:27.

At Edgerton, the PHS girls scored 93 points and finished second out of 16 schools.
Liberty Center easily won with a low score of 22.
Pettisville’s top runner was T. Hostetler, who finished fourth in 20:27. Shinhearl ran a 22:15, taking 19th. L. King was 24th in 22:34.
Avina finished 29th in 23:01. Loar took 32nd in 23:13.

In the boys race, Pettisville finished seventh with 199 points. Hilltop won with 46.
Frey was again Pettisville’s top runner, finishing 15th in 17:55. Rufenacht was on Frey’s heels, taking 16th in 17:57.
Bruner was 38th in 18:37; Pursel finished 80th in 20:13; and Borton grabbed 82nd in 20:14.
