Pettisville won two of three matches to finish third in the Kalida Varsity Volleyball Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 8.
The Birds (4-4) also hosted Hilltop for a Buckeye Border Conference battle, Thursday, Sept. 6. PHS won in three games to start the league season with a 1-0 record.

Emily Hubby had nine kills while Ashlynn Waidelich had eight against the Apaches. Dana Fricke had five kills, and Emily Eicher had three. The Birds were 88-106 in attacks, including 29 kills.
Stephanie Hubby served seven of the team’s 14 aces, while Eicher served three and E. Hubby had two.
Claire Fry was 40-40 in setting; E. Hubby was 28-28. Fricke had two solo blocks.
The Birds dropped into the consolation bracket with a two-game loss to Lima Bath. E. Hubby had seven of the Birds’ 16 kills. Waidelich and Fricke each had three.
PHS took third with a three-game victory over the Bulldogs in the consolation bracket. E. Hubby had 13 kills; S. Hubby had seven. Waidelich and Fricke each had five. As a team, the Birds were 100-121 in attacks, including 34 kills.
Waidelich served seven of the Birds’ 10 aces against Edgerton. Fry was 43-44 in setting, while E. Hubby was 42-42.

Pettisville defeated the Cadets in three straight for its first BBC win of the season.
E. Hubby led PHS with 12 kills; Fricke had eight and Jordyn Pursel had seven. Fricke had four solo blocks, and Eicher served five aces.
Fry was 31-32 in setting; Hubby was 39-39.
As a team, PHS was 62-72 in serving with nine aces; 79- 81 in setting; and 108-124 in attacks with 36 kills.
The Pettisville junior varsity won 26-24, 20-25, 25-7.
Archbold Junior Varsity Invitational
The Birds finished third in the Archbold Junior Varsity Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 8.
PHS defeated Edgerton 25- 21, 23-25, 25-19 in the first round. Eastwood dropped the Birds into the consolation bracket in the second round, 25-16, 22-25, 25-18. PHS (5- 3) finished third after defeating Sylvania Southview 25- 19, 25-19.
