Birds Spoil Parents Night For Patriots

The Pettisville varsity boys basketball team traveled to Hamler, Tuesday, Dec. 29, for a non-league matchup with Patrick Henry.

Pettisville spoiled the Patriots’ Parents Night, winning 56-46 and improving its record to 4-3.

Both teams found the bottom of the basket early, and PH led 15-13 at the end of the first quarter.

Pettisville held the Patriots to four points in the second period while scoring 13, including a buzzer-beater, to take a 26-19 lead going into the locker room.

PH (1-3) cut into the deficit in the third quarter, outscoring the Birds 11-9. Pettisville won the fourth quarter 21-16 to win 56-46.

Pettisville had a huge advantage at the foul line, converting on 22-30 for 73%. The Patriots were 5-8 for 63%.

Jacob Rupp led the Birds’ balanced scoring attack with 12 points. Greg Waidelich added 10. PH’s Kent Tietje led all scorers with 15.
