Birds Drops Three Of Four Matches

The Pettisville volleyball team did not have a good week last week, losing three of four matches to fall to 6- 8, 2-2 in the Buckeye Border Conference.

The Birds started the week with a 25-18, 24-26, 15- 25, 21-25 BBC loss to North Central, Tuesday, Sept. 18, in the Bird Cage.

PHS was on the road to Edon, Thursday, Sept. 20. The Blue Bombers won the BBC match 25-17, 25-16, 25-20.

Pettisville hosted a trimatch with Liberty Center and Edgerton, Saturday, Sept. 22. The Birds beat the Tigers 25-21, 25-22, but lost to the Bulldogs 24-26, 25-23, 18-25.

Emily Hubby served five of the team’s 13 aces, had seven kills, and was 27-33 in setting with eight assists. Ashlynn Waidelich had eight kills; Dana Fricke had seven kills, three aces, and two solo blocks. Emily Eicher had two aces and two solo blocks.

Claire Fry was 23-25 in setting with nine assists.

As a team, Pettisville was 64-82 in serving, 63-72 in setting, and 87-117 in attacks with 30 kills.

Pettisville won the junior varsity contest 25-14, 25-17.

E. Hubby and Fricke each had eight of the team’s 30 kills. Fricke also had two solo blocks. Waidelich had seven kills and Jordyn Pursel had five.

Fry was 43-46 in setting with 13 assists, and E. Hubby was 33-34 with 10 assists.

As a team, PHS was 45-50 in serving with three aces, 49-61 in serve reception, 84- 91 in setting with 26 assists, and 91-112 in attacks.

Pettisville won the JV contest 25-16, 25-20.

Against the Tigers, E. Hubby had eight kills and Fricke had six along with two solo blocks.

E. Hubby, Waidelich, and Pursel each served single aces.

In the match with the Bulldogs, E. Hubby served two aces, had eight kills, and was 40-41 in setting with 14 assists.

Fricke had eight kills and six solo blocks.

Pursel had seven kills and a solo block. Waidelich served an ace and had five kills. Fry was 27-28 in setting with eight assists.

The Pettisville JV defeated Liberty Center 25-18, 25- 18 and Edgerton 25-7, 25-22 to raise its record to 11-3.


The Pettisville freshman team defeated Delta 27-25, 25-22, Monday, Sept. 17.

The Birds raised their record to 8-1 with a 25-21, 25-17 win over Edgerton, Thursday, Sept. 20.
