Birds 3-0 After Wins Over Delta, N. Central

The Pettisville Blackbirds advanced to 3-0, 1-0 in the Buckeye Border Conference with easy road wins over North Central and Delta last week.

PHS traveled to Delta, Tuesday, Dec. 2 and scored enough points in the first quarter alone to win. The Birds beat the Panthers 76-23.

Back on the road, Friday, Dec. 5, PHS again scored enough points in the first quarter to win. The Birds had a 26-6 firstquarter lead on their way to a 65-13 BBC victory.

PHS 76, Delta 23

The Birds led 25-9 after one quarter and blanked the Panthers 13-0 in the second, on their way to a 38-9 halftime advantage.

PHS won the second half 38- 14 for a 63-12 victory.

“It was a very solid effort tonight,” said Jason Waldvogel, PHS head coach. “We played hard defensively. Our rebounding picked up in the second half.

Haley Nofziger led all scorers with 21 points. Also in double figures were Erica King with 17 and Brady Avina with 10. Ten Blackbirds scored.

Kathleen Przeslawski led Delta with 10.

The PHS junior varsity also won 63-12.

PHS 65, NC 13

“We played very well defensively tonight, which in turn got our offense going,” said Waldvogel. “It’s the second game in a row that we have gotten a very good contribution from our bench.”

Pettisville scored in double figures every quarter while North Central scored in the low single digits. The Birds led 38- 9 at halftime and outscored NC 27-4 in the second half.

PHS was 26/62 from the field for 42% and 8-16 from the foul line for 50%. NC was 6/29 from the field for an ice-cold 21% and 1/2 from the line for 50%.

E. King led all scorers with 18 points. Brittany Weber also was in double figures, with 12.
