Bird Volleyballers Win Three, Up Record 5-2




The Pettisville volleyball team defeated Hilltop in five games in their Buckeye Border Conference opener, Thursday, Sept. 10.

The Birds beat the Cadets 24-26, 26-24, 25-15, 22-25, 15- 6.

Pettisville traveled to the Kalida Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 12. The Birds defeated Lima Bath 25-14, 25-20, and Lima Perry, 25-23, 25-12.

PHS is 5-2, 1-0 BBC.

Chelsea Schmucker was 37/43 in attacks with 25 kills and served three aces to lead PHS. Stephanie Yoder had nine kills, three solo blocks, and served two aces.

Also serving two aces each were Ashley Eicher and Laura Rupp. Tessa Yoder was 48/49 in setting, while Rupp was 45/46.

As a team, PHS was 99/109 in serving with 13 aces, 62/67 in serve reception, 121/123 in setting, and 97/129 in attacks. The Birds also had 68 digs.

The PHS junior varsity won in two games.

Schmucker had 10 kills while S. Yoder had six and three solo blocks.

Rupp served three aces; Lauren Bontrager and Mackenzie Nofziger each served two; and S. Yoder served one. T. Yoder was 25/25 in setting; Rupp was 22/22.

As a team, PHS was 46/49 in serving, 20/24 in serve reception, 53/53 in setting, and 45/46 in attacks. The Birds also had 24 digs.

T. Yoder was 26/26 in setting and Rupp was 25/26.

Serving three aces each were T. Yoder, Nofziger, and Rupp; as a team, PHS was 43/51 in serving.

S. Yoder was 9/11 in attacks with eight kills. Schmucker was 15/21 with seven kills. As a team the Birds were 44/56.

PHS had 68 digs in the contest.
