The Pettisville softball team won three games and lost one last week, upping its record to 7-2, 2-0 in the Buckeye Border Conference.
The Birds opened the week and the league season with a 13-1 BBC victory at Stryker, Monday, April 12.
PHS traveled to Patrick Henry, Tuesday, April 13, and lost an 18-13 slugfest to the 9-1 Patriots.
Back home at its temporary field at Biddle Park in Wauseon, PHS defeated Fayette 15-2, Thursday, April 15, and Holgate 10-0, Friday, April 16.
PHS 13, Stryker 1
Stryker scored its only run in the bottom of the first inning to tie the score at 1.
The Birds then took control, scoring six runs in the second, four in the third, and individual runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
Pettisville had 14 hits, including home runs by Erica King, Ashlyn Bontrager, and Kaitlin Nofziger.
Delaney Nofziger was the winning pitcher. In five innings she allowed one run on three hits, struck out three, and walked two.
PHHS 18, PHS 13
The Birds led 3-2 after one, but the Patriots led 6-5 after two. PHHS scored five runs in the bottom of the third to extend the lead to 11-6.
PHS scored twice in the fourth to close within three, 11-8, then had five runs in the top of the fifth for a 13- 11 lead.
The Patriots tied the score at 13 in the bottom of the fifth, and recorded five runs in the sixth for the 18-13 win.
Pettisville had 11 hits, and was led by E. King with a two-run home run and two runs batted in. Kayla King was 2-5 with a single, triple, and two RBIs. Bontrager was 2-5 with two doubles and four RBIs. Taylor Kruse was 2-4 with two singles and one RBI.
Nofziger recorded the loss. In six innings she allowed 17 hits, struck out two, and walked two.
PHS 15, Fayette 2
The Birds got back on the winning track against Fayette. PHS scored all 15 of its runs in the first four innings. Fayette’s two scores were in the second.
E. King was 4-4 with three home runs and a single. Bon- trager hit a triple and a single. K. King hit a triple and Lauren Roth, two doubles.
Nofziger was the winning pitcher. In five innings she allowed two runs on two hits, struck out seven, and walked four.
PHS 10, Holgate 0
Pettisville exploded for nine runs in the third inning on its way to a 10-0 shutout over Holgate (0-10).
Adi Bruner hit the base hit that pushed across the tenth run in the bottom of the fifth to end the game.
Also hitting singles were K. King, E. King. Bontrager, Roth, Ashley Eicher, and Kruse.
Nofziger (7-2) was the winning pitcher. In five innings she allowed three hits, struck out four, and walked one.
