Bird Soccer Splits Week




The Pettisville soccer team had two games last week, splitting them to put their record at 2-4-2.

The Blackbirds traveled to Toledo Waite, Tuesday, Sept. 15, and won 4-1. PHS hosted Kalida, Friday, Sept. 18, but lost 2-0.

Pettisville started strong, scoring early when Kyle Graber crossed the ball to Jacob Rupp, who put the ball into the lower left part of the goal. PHS went into halftime leading 1-0.

Rupp scored again in the second half, heading in a cross from Zane Miller. Brian Plank scored the third goal after Miller crossed the ball from a free kick.

Waite scored off a penalty kick. The Birds added one more goal when Rupp completed a hat trick off a pass from Philip Roth.

Kalida 2, PHS 0

Pettisville played well in the first half, but was unable to finish scoring opportunities. The Birds held Kalida scoreless for a scoreless tie at the half.

Kalida scored late in the second half when an unmarked Wildcat put the ball past the Pettisville keeper.

Kalida scored a second goal after a Pettisville handball in the box led to a penalty kick that was put into the lower right part of the goal.

Pettisville had several more chances but was unable to score.
