Bird Baseball Loses Two




The Pettisville baseball team suffered two defeats last week to fall to 0-4 on the season.

The Birds went scoreless in a 3-0 loss to Toledo Christian, Monday, April 7.

PHS scored two runs but lost a 3-2 contest at Swanton, Tuesday, April 8.

A Saturday, April 12 doubleheader with Evergreen was cancelled.

Toledo Christian scored two runs in the second inning and one in the sixth while PHS didn’t cross the plate.

Barnes was the winning pitcher. In seven innings he allowed five hits, and threw two strikeouts and one walk.

Logan Frey was the losing pitcher. He allowed three runs, two of them earned, on three hits, struck out two, and walked four in seven innings.

Josh Bruner was 2-3 at the plate for PHS.

Sims led TC with a home run; he was 1-3 at the plate. Yunker was 1-3 including a double.

The Birds had a trio of hitters with Bruner, Jared Avina, and Quinn Nofziger each going 1-3 at the plate. Nofziger added one run batted in.

Jordan Klopfenstein recorded the loss, giving up one earned run on six hits, striking out four and walking three in six innings.

Davis was the winning pitcher, allowing two earned runs on three hits and throwing six strikeouts while walking one in seven innings.

Pettisville took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Bulldogs bounced right back with three in the bottom half of the second.
