Amanda Beck, 2007 Archbold High School graduate, is one of four finalists for the National FFA Proficiency Award in grain production-entrepreneurship.
She competes in the finals during the FFA national convention, Wednesday Saturday, Oct. 24-27, in Indianapolis, Ind.
A member of the Archbold FFA chapter, Beck won the competition at the state level earlier this year to become eligible for the honor.
Proficiency awards recognize outstanding student achievement gained through handson agribusiness experience in 47 categories. There are local, state, and national awards in each.
In her category, Beck must demonstrate knowledge of the best management practices for producing and marketing crops for grain production.
All finalists receive a plaque and $500 award. The winner receives another $500 stipend during a special ceremony at the convention.
Beck is the daughter of Mike and Sally, rural Ridgeville Corners.
