“Most of our lineup will consist of freshmen and sophomores. We have very little post-season experience, with just two returning district qualifiers on our roster,” said Brian Becher, Archbold head wrestling coach.
Archbold returns 15 letterwinners from last year’s squad that finished 30-13, 5-3 in the Northwest Ohio Athletic League.
Only two are seniors: Chase Gingerich, 171 pounds, and Shem Neuenschwander, a 189-lb. district qualifier.
In his seventh season at the helm of the Streaks, Becher has compiled a 230- 56-1 record.
Even though he has a young, inexperienced squad, Becher has high expectations by the time the postseason rolls around.
“Our inexperience should be negated by the postseason, with us having so many matches on our schedule against quality opponents,” said the coach.
“We have some guys that we expect to be competing in Columbus at the end of the season.
“The realignment of Division III will make it easier for our wrestlers to qualify to the district and state tournament this season.”
