A fire did $15,000 in damage to a barn owned by Debra K. Mignin (trustee) at 24795 Co. Rd. J on Friday, March 15.

Russ Wyse, assistant Archbold fire chief, said the call came in about 11:47 am.

When officers arrived, they saw smoke coming from the northwest corner of the building.

Wyse said firefighters made an interior attack, then opened the structure by partially tearing off siding and cutting into the roof of a small building.

Responding with Archbold were Fayette and Morenci fire departments.

No information about the cause of the fire was available. Damage was estimated at $15,000 to building and contents.

Firefighters also answered a call to an apartment at 204 LaChoy Drive, Archbold, about 5:14 pm, Tuesday, March 5.

Wyse said the entire apartment was full of smoke when AFD arrived.

He said a piece of expanded bead insulation was too close to a boiler in the apartment. It caught fire and filled the apartment with smoke.

Damage was estimated at $10,000 to the residence and $10,000 to contents.
