Ball Joins Fort Wayne Television Station

Dan Ball, a 1993 Archbold High School graduate, has joined WFFT-TV in Fort Wayne, Ind., as the new news director and main anchor for the 10 pm newscast.

He previously worked as a television anchor and reporter in Las Vegas, Nev., the morning anchor at the CBS affiliate in Palm Springs, Calif., and the morning anchor in Fresno, Calif.

Fort Wayne is the 107thlargest television market in the country. Las Vegas is the 42nd largest television market, while Palm Springs is 142nd. Fresno is 55th.

Ball began his career after high school, when he entered the Air Force as a combat journalist for the Armed Forces Radio and Television Network.

Ball has won two Emmy awards: in 2006 for his anchoring and reporting of the nationally televised funeral of Gerald Ford, former US president, and in 2009 when he was named “Best Anchor” in the Pacific Southwest Region.

“It’s like coming home,” he said. “All of my family and some really close friends still live in Northwest Ohio and Northeast Indiana.”

Ball, son of Ernie Ball and Becky Collins, both of Archbold, has a five-year-old daughter, Avery Ilene.
