A second theft from Laub Auto Parts, Archbold, could be connected with other break-ins in the community, said Martin Schmidt, Archbold police chief.
A thief or thieves entered the building by breaking a rear window sometime between 3 pm Saturday, Oct. 20, and 7 am the following day.
Once inside, $200 in coins and cash and $1,000 worth of pneumatic tools were stolen. When the damage to the window and a window screen is added, the total comes to $1,320.
The store was also broken into sometime between 2:30 pm, Saturday, July 21, and 12:20 pm, Sunday, July 22.
That time, thieves forced their way into the business through a first-floor side door and made off with the safe, which contained an undetermined amount of cash.
Officers are continuing their investigation into both thefts.
Schmidt said there have been several break-ins in the area, and area law-enforcement agencies are working together.
“We’re looking at similarities,” Schmidt said.
