Danford M. Barber, 88, Archbold told police on Monday, April 8, he may have been the victim of an attempted scam.
Barber told officers he had some computer work done, and was due a refund. When he received the refund, it was higher than expected.
He said he contacted the company he was dealing with, and was told to buy gift cards to pay back the overage.
But employees at a discount store told Barber the arrangement may be a scam. He reported the incident to APD and his bank.
Police marked the case closed.
