Benjamin A. Waidelich, 34, rural Archbold, has been charged with DUI and carrying a firearm while intoxicated.
The Archbold police report states an officer observed a vehicle cross the centerline of the 100 block of South Clyde’s Way about 2:15 am, Saturday, April 6.
The officer stopped Waidelich’s vehicle and conducted a field sobriety test. As a result of the test, Waidelich was found to be allegedly under the influence of alcohol, and was charged with DUI.
A police spokesman said it was found Waidelich was carrying a .380-caliber handgun. State law prohibits someone under the influence of alcohol from carrying a firearm, resulting in the second charge.
Waidelich was later released.
