Three students from Archbold and Pettisville high schools will attend summer camps and workshops focused on the arts through scholarships provided by the Black Swamp Arts Council.
Moriah Rosales, an AHS junior, will take private voice lessons.
Clara Beck, a PHS junior, will attend the Toledo Opera Summer Camp.
Kaitlyn Carroll, also a PHS junior, will receive voice and piano lessons.
In all, 17 students were awarded a total of $3,550 in scholarship money.
BSAC, founded in 2000, is a non-profit arts organization that serves rural Northwest Ohio.
Since 2002, the group has awarded scholarships to students from seventh grade to juniors in high school who need assistance to further their arts-related studies during the summer months.
This summer, students will attend programs ranging from private lessons to music camps or programs in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C.
“We had an outstanding group of scholarship applicants this year,” said Diane Tinsman, Black Swamp Arts Council president.
“They are attending some of the premier programs in our region, and it is exciting to help make those opportunities possible for these talented students.
“The students return to their schools and communities as leaders in the arts, which in turn enriches all of us.”
