Arden Dale “Ardie” Grime, age 79, of Archbold, passed away Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at the University of Toledo Medical Center, after a brief illness.
Prior to his retirement, Ardie had worked for Yoder & Frey Machinery Auctions in Archbold for over 50 years, where he started working at the age of 16.
After retirement, he continued to help in the auction business, working for Frey & Sons Auctioneers, also in Archbold.
Ardie was born in Wauseon on May 28, 1933, the son of Lawrence and Wilma (Schlatter) Grime.
On Feb. 16, 1958, he married Mary Jane Shibler, who survives.
He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was also a member of the Archbold American Legion B.L.W. Post #311.
Surviving besides his wife, Mary, are three sons, Paul (Debra) Grime of Fort Wayne, Ind., David (Linda) Grime of Archbold, Andrew (Lisa) Grime of Stryker; eight grandchildren, Brett (Jennifer), Molly, Micah, Brittany, Baily, Matthew, Nathan, and Emma Grime; two great-grandsons, Paxton and Maddix Grime; one sister, Isabel Boucher of Bryan; one brother, Lawrence Jr. (Arlene) Grime of Archbold; other brothers-in-law and sisters in-law; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents and one sister, Joan (Virgil) Yetter.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, at the corner Rt. 6 & 66.
Funeral services will be held in the church at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, with the Rev. Dale Kern, officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be given to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church.
