U-18 Boys

The Archbold Blue Streaks Soccer Club boys U-18 team split a pair of matches last week. The Eastwood junior varsity visited Archbold, Tuesday, Oct. 2, trying to avenge a previous loss to the Streaks, one of only two Eagle losses this season.

The teams battled through a scoreless first half before Eastwood found the goal with seven minutes remaining to clinch the 1-0 victory. Marc Miller played an outstanding match at goalkeeper, fending off many Eastwood shots, including two that bounced off the goalpost after Miller deflected them. On the offensive end for Archbold, Stewart Nafziger and Tyson Bentz assembled several passing combinations that lead to scoring attempts.

The Streaks traveled to Continental to take on the Pirate JV, Saturday, Oct. 6. After an evenly played but scoreless first half, Archbold got on the board with 27 minutes remaining when Aaron Bontrager converted a penalty kick after winger Justin Allison was pushed in the penalty area.

Austin Short and Peter Lehman orchestrated several scoring threats for Archbold, but the match ended with the Streaks’ 1-0 victory.

The team stands 8-2-1 on the season and plays its final match Saturday, Oct. 13, 7 pm vs. Miller City at Spengler Field.
