Boys U10 Soccer

The Archbold Blue Streak Boys U10 soccer team played its first home game, Tuesday, Sept. 18 at Woodland Park, defeating Bowling Green White 4-2. Michael Weigand set the pace in the first quarter and scored two goals. Goalie Seth Mayer and the defense, which included Alex Weaver, Kyle Ott, and Curtis Wooley, prevented BG from scoring.

In the second quarter Weigand scored again, and AJ Short moved into goalie. In the third quarter BG kept plugging away, even with only one substitute and another exceptional goalie, and scored one goal. In the final quarter, BG scored again, but Kegan Ott held left wing position and scored off a shot from AJ Short. Weigand played in goal.

Strong defense by Kyle Kinsey and a blocking save by Wooley helped the Blue Streaks win 4-2.

Boys U14 Soccer

The Archbold Blue Streaks soccer club boys U-14 team hosted Napoleon, Saturday, Sept. 22, and came away with a 6-1 victory to improve its season record to 1-2.

Neither team could get going offensively until the final minute of the first half, when Streak midfielder Clayton Lehman went on a run down the left side, maneuvering around several defenders before hammering in the goal.

After halftime the Streaks added to their lead when defender Nathaniel Rodriguez moved up field to score in the 37th minute.

Winger Jacob Ott added another goal two minutes later on a pass from Caleb Liechty to make the score 3-0.

The Wildcats responded with their only goal of the evening.

Archbold winger Seth Yoder scored after a nice passing combination from Blake Drewes and Rodriguez. Rodriguez & Ott each scored their second goals of the evening in the 59th and 69th minutes, respectively. Ott was assisted by striker Jarett Lerma.

Drewes and Ben Eggers shared the goalkeeper duties and held the visitors to their lone goal.
