Team


The Archbold Blue Streak Boys U10 team began
its fall season with an 8-1 win at Napoleon, Tuesday, Sept. 11. In the first
quarter, Michael Weigand scored and Jack Fisher scored with an assist from Kegan
Ott. Napoleon countered with one goal when the Blue Streakswere sleeping. In
the second quarter, AJ Short scored three goals and Alex Short scored with an
assist from Fisher. In the third quarter, Kegan Ott and Weigand scored. Goalies
were AJ Short, Seth Mayer, Alex Short, and Weigand. Defensive players
included  Kyle Kinsey, Kyle Ott, Alex Weaver, and Curtis Wooley.


The team traveled to Millbury, and defeated
ESSL Arsenal 7-6, Saturday, Sept. 15. In less than four minutes of the first
quarter, AJ Short scored the first goal. Although ESSL started out slow, they
came back to tie the game and cause teeter-totter scoring in thesecond
half.


The Streaks had the most shots on goal
during the game, but many near misses. Mayer made a photogenic long pass from
midfield to AJ Short, who scored from the penalty box border, which kept
Archbold in the winning spirit during the final quarter. Goals were scored by
Fisher 1, Mayer 1, Kegan Ott 1, AJ Short 3, and Weigand 1. Goaliesincluded
AJ Short, Mayer, Alex Short, and Weigand, who made two exciting saves to help
finish the win. Weaver helped keep the Arsenal at bay with his other defenders,
who also helped in offenseas needed.


The first home game at Woodland Park is
Tuesday, Sept. 18, 6 pm against Bowling Green. Coaches are Tara Short and Mike
Weaver.


Girls U11 TeamThe Archbold Blue Streak Girls U11 team traveled to Bowling
Green,Saturday, Sept. 8, for their first game. The girls had a tough first
half, with six goals scored against them while they were adjusting to the new 8
vs. 8 lineup for this age group. Most players ofthe team played a 6 vs. 6
lineup as U10 players last year.


In the second half, Archbold’s Alexa
Coressel and Olivia Deskins got in closer and made shots on goal, but the goals
wouldn’t come. In the second half, Meridith Short took over as goalie and made
exciting saves to help her defenders Ashley Short and Lauren Stuckey. The girls
shut out BG from scoring in the secondhalf, but lost 6-0.


The girls traveled to Napoleon, Thursday,
Sept. 13. Jensyn Garrow led shots on Napoleon’s goal in the first half, but
Napoleon scored twice. In the second half, Coressel scored Archbold’s first goal
of the season. Napoleon later countered with one more goal. Archboldkept the
ball more in Napoleon’s half and was more aggressive in shooting, but lost
3-1.


Playing offense are Korey Arend, Coressel,
Deskins, Garrow, and Rebecca Schmucker. Playing midfield positions are Mara
Beck, Bailey Grieser, and Jordin Stuckey. Defense includes Ashley Short,
Meridith Short, and Lauren Stuckey. Goalies include Coressel, Deskins, 
Meridith Short, and Ashley Short. Coach is Tara Short. Assistant coach is Jeff
Coressel, and manager is JoAnn Short.
