Archbold Youth Soccer Club




U-14 Girls

The Archbold Youth Soccer Club U- 14 girls team finished its fall season with four games in eight days. The team traveled to Defiance to take on the Strikers, Sunday, Oct 14. Archbold dominated and won 3-0. Mindy Rupp scored twice and Becca Gerig, once.

Defiance come to Spengler Field, Thursday, Oct. 18. Once again the Blue and Gold played well and held Defiance scoreless for a 2-0 win. The dynamic duo of Mindy Rupp and Lauren Kindinger accounted for both Blue Streak goals as Rupp assisted and Kindinger scored. Megan Arend was in goal for Archbold.

Archbold traveled to BG to take on the Bombers, Saturday Oct. 20. The first half was close with the score tied at 2. Archbold blew the game wide open in the second half, scoring five more times while holding BG to one more for the 7-3 final. Rupp had three goals; Kindinger, two; Sierra Nofziger and Jesse Fidler, one each. Fidler scored after taking the ball all the way down the field through many defenders and beating the BG goalie.

The final game of the season had Wauseon invading Spengler Field for a Sunday night, Oct. 21, game under the lights. With a large and vocal crowd present for both teams, the fans were not disappointed. Wauseon came into the final game with a 9-1-1 record, while Archbold was 8-3.

The Streaks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, with Kindinger scoring on a soaring breakaway and Rupp on a great assist by Krista Leupp. Wauseon came back and tied the game at 2 at half. The second half was also very competitive with Wauseon scoring first, but Archbold coming back on a penalty kick by Kindinger that soared over the goalie’s head.

The score remained 3-3 until 23 seconds were left in the game, when Wauseon scored on a corner kick that bounced around in front of the goal and, in the confusion, was put in. Archbold finished third in its league.

Other team members were Carley Wyse, Ruthie Beck, Hanna Allison, Kassidy Garrow, Jennifer Gerken, Cassidy Wyse, Becca Gerig, and Meggie Yoder. They were coached by Vaughn Bentz and Skip Leupp.
