Girls U-11

The Archbold Blue Streaks Girls U- 11 soccer team hosted Sylvania United White, Thursday, Oct. 11. In the first half, Alexa Coressel scored the first goal. Goalies Ashley Short and Meridith Short played tough in goal despite Sylvania trying to kick when they had their hands on the ball. Guest players Mim Beck, Brooke Hines, and Madison Kohler helped keep the Sylvania team to only one goal.

In the second half, Coressel had an awesome penalty kick, which again gave the Blue Streaks the lead. Later, Jensyn Garrow scored. Sylvania countered with one goal; then, in the last few seconds, Sylvania tied the game at 3.

The Blue Streaks played their second game against Valentis Athletica, a Bowling Green team, Saturday, Oct. 13. Archbold dominated in the first half and kept the ball on Valentis’ side. Archbold scored first. Jensyn Garrow scored two goals, and Alexa Coressel scored one. Valentis scored twice.

In the second half, Olivia Deskins passed to Garrow, who quickly passed to Coressel for a fourth goal. The Blue Streaks were getting tired, and with two foot injuries, slowed down. Valentis woke up and scored three goals, one of which was from a penalty immediately outside the goalie’s penalty box. Valentis won 5-4.

The Streaks play Perrysburg Black, Sunday, Oct. 21, 12:30 pm at Woodland Park for their last home game of the season.

Boys U-10

The Blue Streak Boys U-10 team traveled to Defiance, Sunday, Oct. 14 to play the Defiance Strikers. Archbold’s Michael Weigand and Seth Mayer scored early, with Mayer’s goal curving in directly from a corner kick. In the second quarter Weigand scored again, and Curtis Wooley scored from a corner kick.

Mayer scored the lone goal in the third quarter, as coaches repositioned normal defensive players to offense. In the final quarter, Defiance snuck in a goal. However, Kyle Kinsey kicked the ball, making it soar across to the far post from his right wing position to score the final goal of the game as Archbold won 6-1.
